SCOTS Munro Bagging - Sun 7 May 23

Date. Sun 7 May 23.
Munro Summit. The aim is to climb Beinn Bhrotain, 1157m.
RV. Meet at 0830hrs at the Linn of Dee Car Park, 11km West of Braemar in Royal Deeside (very appropriate given the significance of this weekend). There are portaloos in situ but there is no cafe / refreshments. We will aim to set off shortly after but by 0845hrs at the latest.
Route Description. The route is a mix of estate tracks, good single tracks with some boggy and rough tracks on the higher ground. From the car park it is a 5km flat walk W along the estate track to White Bridge. From there we head N on the W side of the river for 5km along a good single track with an ascent of 100m. When we reach the junction where the track meets the Allt Garbh stream, we will head W for 2Km then NW for 2km to the summit with an ascent of 650m. The proposed return route is back the same way. The total distance will be approx 28km with a total ascent of 900m giving us an estimated completion time (incl stops) of 7 to 7.5hrs. So back at the car park by 4.30/5pm.
Dress and Equipment. Be dressed and equipped for a hill walking day in the Spring in Scotland (i.e waterproof and warm kit) with a flask, water and a good lunch.
Participation. Serving (regular and reserve), veterans (SCOTS and antecedents) and any companions (humans or dogs) are all welcome.
