SCOTS ASSOCIATION GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

This year’s SCOTS Association Golf Championship was held at the beautiful Strathmore Golf Centre, bringing together 25 golfers and several supporting staff for a memorable day of sport and comradeship. The event welcomed a great mix of serving personnel and veterans from the SCOTS, antecedent regiments, and the RAF.

The day began with a warm welcome in the clubhouse, where attendees enjoyed bacon rolls and coffee, followed by a briefing on the rules and prizes by Lt Col (Retd) Gordon Vevers and Maj (Retd) Norrie MacKinnon.

Despite a mixed weather forecast—with overcast skies and rain in the morning giving way to warm sunshine in the afternoon—spirits remained high on the immaculate course. The changing conditions added an extra layer of challenge as players competed for a range of prizes.

After the final putts were made, everyone gathered for a well-earned lunch and the much-anticipated prize ceremony. Congratulations to our top performers and commiserations to the worst player:

  • Best Scratch Player – LCpl Jonny Stevenson RVM, 2 SCOTS
  • Best Handicapped Player – CSgt Scott McGregor, 7 SCOTS
  • Wooden Spoon – Maj Ian Cordiner, RHQ SCOTS

Looking ahead, next year marks the 20th anniversary of the SCOTS, and we’re aiming for an even bigger turnout, save the date in your diary, Thu 18 Jun 26. Keep an eye on the SCOTS App early next year to secure your place, you all are welcome!
