The SCOTS Officer's Black Hackle Dinner Night

THE SCOTS OFFICER’S BLACK HACKLE DINNER NIGHT

On Friday 21st March 2025, 118 serving, veteran or antecedent officers gathered at the New Club, Edinburgh for the annual Black Hackle Dinner Night to celebrate the formation of the Regiment.  The Colonel of the Regiment, was joined at the top table by a former Colonel of the Regiment, an Honorary Colonel, one of his former Deputy Colonels, a Deputy Colonel, a SCOTS Brigade Commander, a SCOTS Defence Attaché and the former Commanding Officer of The Highlanders.

There was an excellent turn out from our younger veteran officers many of whom had travelled from the South to reunite with their former colleagues for the occasion. From our antecedent regiments The Royal Highland Fusiliers were out in force and occupied a large section of the dining room.  While enjoying the excellent food, wine and service provided by the New Club staff the officers were royally entertained by pipers and drummers from 4 SCOTS.

The Colonel of the Regiment presented Lt Col Tom Perkins MBE and Maj Iain Curren MC with a regimental gift to mark their retirement.  The Colonel of the Regiment read out the loyal greetings from our Colonel in Chief, His Majesty The King, after which he addressed those in attendance.  At the conclusion of the dinner the older officers retired to the bar overlooking the castle while the younger officers retired to some of the darker establishments within the city.
