The Royal Regiment of Scotland 20th Anniversary Rally Weekend

The Royal Regiment of Scotland 20th Anniversary Rally Weekend
This year’s rally weekend marked a special milestone, our 20th anniversary, making the celebration of heritage, camaraderie, and shared commitment all the more significant.
The weekend began with the SCOTS Officers’ 20th Anniversary Black Hackle Dinner Night, held at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh. The evening celebrated two decades of service and regimental tradition and then 200 guests enjoyed an outstanding Beating Retreat, a superb dinner with and excellent performances from the Pipes and Drums and the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The dinner provided a memorable occasion for officers to reconnect with friends and colleagues and celebrate the Regiment’s achievements in its short history.
On Saturday a Regimental History Day was held at Edinburgh Castle to highlight the role of the modern Army against the backdrop of Scotland’s long and proud military heritage. Visitors of all ages enjoyed a taste of Army life through hands-on sessions, crafty makes, musical performances, and living history.
The event included key partners from across the Edinburgh Castle site, the Scottish National War Memorial, and the National War Museum. To help visitors understand more about the origins of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, each antecedent museum attended with objects and material from their own collections. SCOTS Battalions were well represented with military displays from 2 SCOTS and BKA Coy.
The Muster, March, and Remembrance took place on the Sunday forming the concluding event of the rally weekend. Members of the SCOTS Associations gathered on the Castle Esplanade for refreshments before forming up behind the SCOTS Association Standard. Led by the Pipes and Drums from 3 and 4 SCOTS and the SCOTS Highland/Lowland Band, the parade stepped off and marched to the Canongate Kirk for our annual Regimental kirk service.
The SCOTS Rally is the annual occasion where the Regiment comes together, whether serving or a veteran, to maintain or re-establish connections and to celebrate being part of something unique and very special, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
